After the weekend

Well Round 13 turned out to be a beauty. There was some expected results and some upsets as well. So really pretty normal considering.

First of all to Friday Night. The Essendon and Carlton game was hyped up to be a clash that would go down to the wire. Last time that these two teams played the Bombers just got up by 5 points and before the match there was 20 points overall between these teams. But in this case it was the Bombers who got up comfortably by 69 points. Carlton would need to regroup against a tough game next week in the west against Fremantle, both teams coming off bad losses. Essendon take on the in form Collingwood side in what would be another huge crowd for the AFL.

To Saturday and as hinted before Collingwood hosted Fremantle at the G and were way too strong for them, running away (probably too fast) to win by 84 points. Over to AAMI Stadium to what would be Barry Hall's 250th Game and well it wasn't a memorable game for him. Barry and the swans started out well and then a bit of a brain fade between him and the side meant that Adelaide came back into the game and held on by 16 points.

To Saturday night. And a star is born! I've seen how good this guy is, in my book should have gone number one (I bet Melbourne are spewing now) Nick Natinui, what a champion he's going to be. He made his impact known in the last quarter when the game was in the balance against Hawthorn and contributed well to them winning by 20 points. Watch out for him! In the game up at the Gabba Brisbane vs Melbourne, well it was another bad loss for them losing by 55 points.

To Sunday. Geelong hosted Port Adelaide at Skilled Stadium and judging by the first quarter the cats were going to be in for a field day. But Port Adelaide got into gear and played some good football and got into the game in the second quarter before the Cats kicked away again. Then to Port's credit they made in roads again before Geelong won by 34 points. At the MCG this saw North Melbourne host Western Bulldogs and this turned out to be an entertaining game but the dogs held on by 22 points. In the twilight game St Kilda took on Richmond for 13 straight wins. The Tigers in the first quarter took it up to the saints and had them goaless in the quarter, but that was it, St Kilda was way too good for them running away winners by 56 points.

Well that's the weekend wrap. More in the next couple of days mainly sooner. Until then.

Catch ya!
