After the weekend.

The first week of the finals have been and gone and two teams have had their seasons ended in the first week. Some exciting games ahead and interesting times as well.

To Friday Night and Adelaide hosted Essendon in an Elimination Final at AAMI Stadium. Well for Essendon fans it wasn't pretty as Adelaide won by a whopping 96 points proving that they are a real threat this finals series. Essendon have a lot to regather and move forward to 2010. I think that they will be better for the run in the finals and they can only get better next year. Adelaide on the otherhand will look towards next week in order to progress to the Preliminary final.

To Saturday and Geelong hosted Western Bulldogs at the MCG. This game I built up I thought that it was for any team to win really. Geelong had a good start getting out to a 28 point lead at Quarter time and I thought that a start like that on the G is something that is needed. But to the Dogs credit they came back and in the third quarter got within 10 points, but it was the Cats who held on winning by 14 points. The good thing for the Dogs is that they have another chance next week and would need things going for them for them to get through to the Grand Final at this stage. But one things for sure, footy is a funny game you just never know. Geelong on the otherhand have a week off to get over any niggles that may present to them.

To Saturday Night and Brisbane hosted Carlton at the Gabba. Carlton came out all guns blazing before a couple of goals from Brisbane pegged it back for them a bit. Carlton then got out to a bit of a lead before Brisbane stormed back to win by 7 points. It was a disappointing end to the season for Carlton who to me should have won that game and that should spur them on to do great things in 2010. Brisbane have another chance next week and it would be interesting to see how they go.

To Sunday and St Kilda hosted Collingwood at the MCG. This game would be a test for both sides to see where they're at. Collingwood had a good start before St Kilda then controlled the game winning by 28 points. To me St Kilda are now definately the side to beat and if anyone beats them then they are going to well deserve the premiership. Collingwood on the otherhand have some work to do before next week and they would be hoping that they would have a good list to choose from.

So here are the games for next week:

2nd Semi Final: Western Bulldogs vs Brisbane (MCG) Friday Night.
1st Semi Final: Collingwood vs Adelaide (MCG) Saturday Night.
