After the weekend...well both of them anyway

Well because it was a split round, I couldn't very well title it after the weekend could I? This split round thing as I've mentioned before, I'm not a big fan of and from what people have told me, I don't think they are either. All I can say is that the upshot of it is the break it gives players either side. For those who support the game, it seems like an eternity for the round to finish.

Ok to the first game of the round Carlton vs St Kilda. What a game! This game was everything you want in a game, bar the upset. There was so much excitement in the way that Carlton played in keeping St Kilda from getting a percentage booster as people were expecting them to do. All I can say is that Carlton are to be congratulated in the way they played and it would be interesting to see how this game influences others.

To Saturday night and well a couple of words said it all. Bulldogs were awesome, Port were crap! In the other game Richmond won a game that they needed. It was a night of debuts. Jade Rawlings as coach, Nick Natinui and Tyrone Vickery.

To Sunday and the game that everyone had Hawthorn penciled this game in. Brisbane however had other ideas and their pressure caused an upset win, winning by 44 points. To me it was one of their best performances of the year. The other game on Sunday saw Adelaide host North Melbourne. This was to me such a weird game. The bad weather conditions made it tough and for a while things were tight. But then Adelaide busted the game open and well that was it. This is what was Dean Laidley's last game as coach.

To the following week of the split round and to the Friday night, this saw Essendon host Melbourne. For the first say three quarters it was quite and entertaining game and you thought that maybe the Demons has a chance. But the momentum shifted to the Bombers and they ran out winners by 48 points.

To the Saturday night and the game that had been dominated by the Pies continued to be that way. In the game up at ANZ stadium saw Collingwood defeating Sydney by 23 points. Although this game was more entertaining than I had anticipated.

To Sunday and this saw Fremantle host Geelong at Subiaco. In what was thought by a lot of people to be a percentage booster (apart from myself) turned out to be quite and entertaining match. Fremantle applying much pressure on the cats and I thought for a moment there could cause an upset. But it was proven what a professional outfit Geelong is and they ended up winning by 19 points. Fremantle's young players are to be applauded that's where their future lies. Geelong need to keep applying the pressure otherwise they will go down to St Kilda in round 14.

Catch ya later!
